‘I used Kotoko - Hearts matches to plan King Faisal budget’ – Alhaji Grunsah confesses

THE FOUNDER and bankroller of King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Karim Grunsah has recounted how he formerly used ‘superclash’ matches between Ghana Premier League sides Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak to estimate the income and expenditure of King Faisal Babes FC.

The veteran administrator openly admitted that at first when Kotoko or Hearts owes his club [ King Faisal] an amount of money, the two teams [Kotoko and Hearts] usually promise to settle such debts through the profits accrued after the game and “truly they would make up to 80% payment of debts owed me”

“From 1995 I devised a strategy to use the superclash matches between Kotoko and Hearts to plan King Faisal budget”

“Kotoko, Hearts normally make huge gains after their superclash matches and even make assurances to pay off debts after these games” The football club owner and businessman revealed on SilverSports.

“These days it is not like that because Kotoko and Hearts as  GPL clubs do not even have the capacity to fulfill their financial obligation to their players not to talk of paying their huge debts”

King Faisal Babies were relegated at the end of the 2010–11 Glo Premier League season and played in the Poly Tank Division One League in the 2011–12 season.

They were re-promoted to the 2012–13 Glo Premier League season. The club have never won the Ghana Premier League.
