The Head of Communications at Asante Kotoko, Obed Acheampong has called on the supporting body of the club to consistently show confidence in the players to build the latter’s confidence as the team prepare for the new season.

In his view, supporters have a duty to criticize over player temporary limitations but they should encourage and praise small successes to build player confidence and subsequent improvement in their performance. 

In an interview with King Eben on SilverFM’s SilverSports show,  Obed provided flashes of positives from their 0-1 loss to Dawu-based Dreams FC  in the on-going GHALCA G8 tourney;

“We need to have confidence in some of the players”.

“Last season we saw developing players like Yakubu Mohammed , Abass Mohammed and Saddick Adams making an impact at a point which helped us progress into CAF Confederation challenge”

“It was through the efforts of  Yakubu past Dreams FC’s defenders that resulted in a highly contentious penalty which Frederick Boateng failed to cancel Richard Addae’s goal” he stressed.

The single most important factor in player motivation is confidence so as to build sustain and encourage a developing player, the Public Relations Officer of the porcupine warriors reiterated.

He also stated that some of the players are under the observation of English trainer, Steve Polack hence the need for everyone at the club to be patient and support the team as they prepare to embark on their campaign in Africa.

Dreams FC showcased an outstanding performance in matchday2 of the GHALCA G8 tournament to record a win against the Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoko stand second position on the G8 log with 3 points and will take on table leaders Aduana Stars (6 points) in their final group match.
