Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, stage named D Black has criticized the performance of the outgoing MUSIGA president Bice Osei Kuffuor popularly called Obuor.

The Black Avenue boss in a radio interview told KOD and Cookie Tee that Obuor, who is set to step down after holding the position for two terms, failed to deliver on his promises to musicians.

“He has performed below average…the most important thing for me was royalty collections and it has not gone well under him. He made a personal promise to me on that but he couldn’t live up to it. He even took me to the Finance Minister’s office, at the time it was Duffuor. On the scale I will give him 40%.” D Black stated.

Meanwhile, Obuor has said an achievement he is proud of and would like to be known for is the establishment of the Ageing Musicians Welfare Funds (AMWeF). The AMWeF initiative was established in 2013 to cater for the needs of veteran musicians in the country.

“It started as a benevolent donation fund. Every six months we give every member ¢200. Then they had about 102 registered members.” The outgoing president disclosed.

According to Obour, the AMWeF has grown in members and services to the veteran musicians. He added that AMWeF organizes health screening for members and also partners with hospitals like Danpong Medical Centre and MDS Lancet to treat these old musicians of their ailment.
