Speaking exclusively to silveronline24.com, Ivan Bilson said, amongst the contestants vying for the position as the chairman in the region, Nana Akwasi who is the current Ashanti regional vice chairman stands tall.
“All those who filed for the position of the chairmanship race are all fantastic but undoubtedly Nana Akwasi should be given the nod,” he said.
Expounding the reasons why Nana Akwasi should be given the nod to lead the NDC in the Ashanti region, the averred regional communicator added that, “In party management, we talk about people who have the grassroots at heart and has the resources to mobilize the grassroots for power.”
“Before he even became the vice chairman of the NDC, he was on the ground and always with the grassroots people. He was always found anywhere there was party activity.”
He stated that the NDC as the largest opposition party in the country needed perfect resources that could join hands in wrestling power from the New Patriotic Party who he claimed are incompetent to lead the nation.
“Nana Akwasi has been helping the party even before we went to opposition. Looking into his track records, he is more than capable to bring us back to power come 2020, “Ivan Bilson reiterated.
“Now when you ask somebody to come around, he is not ready so we need to fall on people who are well resourced and can resource the party,” he disclosed.
When quizzed whether Nana Akwasi could beat the likes of Joseph Yamin, T. K Braimah and Kwadwo Adu Gyamfi for the slot, he was optimistic that his candidate will floor them come September 1, 2018 when the election is held.
“Hon. Joseph Yamin has been my very good friend for so many years; we have been very close and moving severally. I have nothing personal against him, I wish he could have been the vice chairman or deputizing Nana Akwasi, but unfortunately this time around he will lose woefully,” he stated categorically.
