Over thousand ardent supporters and followers of the main opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) joined the former president and other big wits of the party to walk through some principal streets of the Kumasi metropolis.
Speaking at the event, Mahama refused to commit to contesting in the 2020 polls. He said his immediate priority was to help reorganise the party and transform it into a formidable political machine ahead of the 2020 elections.
He said he has the responsibility to ensure that the party is brought back on its feet so that whoever is nominated to lead it will have a bright chance of wrestling power from the New Patriotic Party.
The ex- president said he was optimistic that God himself would select a good and competent leader for the party who would be capable of bringing back the party to power”
Other stalwarts of the party who took part in the unity walk include former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, former Deputy Power Minister, John Jinapor, former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yamin, former Chief Executive for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Kojo Bonsu and MP for Asawase who doubles as the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Muntaka Mubarak.
