The Volta River Authority has assured Ghanaians that there will be no power cuts in the country despite the shutdown of the Jubilee FPSO on Thursday for maintenance work to be done.

The Jubilee FPSO would be shutdown for three weeks and will be followed by two other shutdowns to mark the 2018 general maintenance service by engineers to mitigate recent challenges faced by the vessel.

According to the Authority, enough contingency plans have been put in place to avert supply deficit that would have occurred at the western power enclave during the period.

“We will operate up to two turbines on the Light Crude Oil in combined cycle mode to generate up to 300mw from Aboadze to support the system,” VRA said in a statement Thursday.

“All other VRA facilities, hydro, thermal, and solar are available at optimum capacity.
