The plant, which is the assembling point for Motor King Limited, a Chinese company, is expected to create employment for the teeming youth in the region. This will help reduce poverty.
According to Dr. Gao Nong, the Managing Director of Motor King Limited, the Northern Region was chosen for the assembling plant to complement the transportation deficit in the region.
She said the company realized the difficulty of residents in some parts of the region in having access to transportation hence the decision to have an assembling plant to provide some relief to residents.
The company has introduced services such as motor king ambulance and motor library (to be introduced soon) to promote reading amongst schoolchildren.
President Akufo-Addo commended the Chinese firm for their interest in the Ghanaian economy and the establishment of the assembling plant.
He encouraged residents to take advantage of the jobs that would be created by the assembling plant to increase their income and gain economic independence.
He urged the company to make use of the local human capital in the region by absorbing the energetic youth into their workforce.
The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, said he was happy the Motor King Company listened to his advice to establish an assembly plant in the region.
According to him, the Motor King Plant brings hope to the youth in the area, adding that it would create job opportunities for the people in the area.
He indicated that the factory would promote farming and health delivery because the north is described as a rural area which lacks basic amenities.
