A 68- year-old woman has been granted bail in the sum of GHS50, 000.00, with three sureties by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly lacing Akpeteshie, a locally distilled alcoholic drink with a substance suspected to be  Indian hemp.

Madam Patricia Ali is said to have had in her possession 69 wrapped substance suspected to be Indian Hemp when police officers stormed her resident at Peace Village, near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.

She is to reappear before court on May 21, 2018.

Superintendent of Police, Patience Mario, told the Presiding Judge, His Honour Aboagye Tandoh that they were informed of the activities of the suspect and decided to raid her residence.

In her caution statement to the police, she said a certain man gave the substance to her to sell and that she could identify him.

Supt Mario told the court that efforts were being made to arrest the said man to assist the police in investigations.

Lawyer of the accused prayed the court to consider the age and medical condition of the suspect who was finding it difficult to stand in the dock.
