A group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Ashanti strongly accused the two big wits of the NPP of speaking ill and undermining the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
But in a quick rebuttal, Gabby Otchere-Darko tweeted on Thursday, stating: “Am I so stupid that I would work against my own interest and turn one half of me against the other half by inciting my mother’s people against my father’s people; that I would bite the very hand that feeds us politically? Perplexing.”
Acting General Secretary, John Boadu; Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah; NPP Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, Kwabena Senkyire, appeared at the Manhyia Palace pleading with the revered Ashanti King to spare the governing party his wrath.
It took the timely intervention of the linguist of the Asantehene, Baffour Kantankrakyi to intercede on behalf of the New Patriotic Party gurus who were on their knees before the Asante King.
‘’Your own grandchildren, the Regional Minister, the Mayor and John Boadu. They say this is a surprise to them.”
"As a caring parent, you don’t harbour ill-feeling. They are pleading for pardon. Please, forgive them,’’ Otumfuo’s linguist said on their behalf.
Otumfuo said he has reliable information that Gabby Otchere-Darko and other close associates of government have been carrying out nefarious activities with their cohorts hired to bring him down.
Meanwhile, Bantamahene, Baffour Amankwatia VI, who is the Chairman of the Kumasi Traditional Council have vowed to resist attempts by any individual or group to denigrate the Asantehene and his kingdom for political and other parochial interests.
