According to the chief fisherman, there are efforts by people who are against the NPP government to tarnish its image, hence the fake news.
He has therefore entreated his colleagues fishermen to treat such fake news with the contempt it deserves.
“Fishermen, notably in the Gomoa West district are alleging that there has been announcement somewhere that the government is about to ban fishing for a period but it is never true,” Mr. Richard Appiah stated in an interview with the press.
He alleged that some people in the opposition want to use fishing as a tool to deceive the citizenry and also to sabotage the NPP government. “I appealed to all to ignore such people when they come to you with their diabolic agenda,” he appealed to fishermen.
He disclosed that the government is registering all fishermen in the area to meet them and address their challenges.
However, Mr. Appiah called on the government to increase the premix fuel that they receive in the district.
He called on the police to arrest persons who are illegally engaging in premix fuel sales in the district.
