Ugandan incarcerated for transferring narcotic drugs
Officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) have apprehended a Ugandan for allegedly trafficking narcotics.
The suspect Bwogo Federick, 53, who was on board Ethiopian Air flight ET 921 from Kampala- Ugandan was arrested by the operatives of NACOB when he was going through the arrival procedures at the KIA on April 25, 2018.
The suspect’s urine was tested on suspicion and it proved positive that he had swallowed narcotic drug in his system.
Mr. Bwogo was later sent to the Headquarters of NACOB and placed on observation where within a period of 48 hours expelled sixty-seven (67) pellets.
The pellets were field tested and proved positive for narcotic drug.
Mr. Bwogo admitted to the police that a Pakistani in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda handed him the drugs to bring to a Pakistani in Ghana called Ahmed.
Later, in court, he told prosecutors that he was sent by Ugandan in Kampala to deliver the drugs to one Ahmed in Ghana for a fee of $1,500.00.
He told the court that his Boss in Uganda paid for his travel expenses, adding that the receiver of the drugs was to pay his share after handing the drugs to him in Ghana.
Mr. Bwogo has been arraigned before court and has been incarcerated into prison’s custody waiting for the final verdict of the case.
NACOB admonishes the public to desist from delivering parcels for and on behalf of others, as it has been the conduit for trafficking narcotic drugs.
