The suspect, 33, will re- appear at the Assin Fosu District Court on March 19, 2019 to answer the charges against him.
Prosecuting Inspector Gilbert Ayongo told the court presided over by His worship Samuel Djanie Kotey that on February 14, 2019, the suspect returned from work and saw that the stew that was going to be used by the family had been consumed.
Suspecting the victim to have done justice to the stew, he called him (the victim) and asked him if he was the one who had eaten the stew meant for their supper.
According to Prosecution, the child vehemently denied having knowledge of what had happened but the angry father subjected the innocent child to severe beatings.
Not convinced of the child’s denial, the suspect in an attempt to scare the victim put his leg on fire with the hope that he (the child) might speak the truth, but ended up burning his foot.
The child has since been sent to the Social Welfare Office at Assin Fosu receiving care and treatment.
