In an exclusive interview with SilverNews' Nana Peprah, Ghanaians should reject such claims since it is a mere fabrication to tarnish the service's highly gained reputation.
Mr. Godwin Tamakloe, Senior Manager at the Anti Money Laundering and Compliance Department of MTN speaking to SilverFM disclosed that the only thing MTN is advocating is that its MoMo users update their numbers at any service center using their national ID.
He said this is the way of ensuring everybody who is registered on a mobile money has his/her own name attached to it.
He urges the general public not to rely on such fake information since MTN is never going to block any of its clients or users from using MTN Mobile Network even if it is not registered in their own name. He has therefore advised all MTN users to update their numbers as such.
It could be recalled that there has been a report circulating on the various social media outlets that MTN is going to block their Mobile Money users who have their MTN numbers not registered in their names as it appears on their ID cards, from April 2nd.
The said voice continues by urging the general public to withdraw their monies from the MoMo wallet before 2nd April to avoid any blockage.
But reacting to this in an exclusive interview with Nana Peprah, Mr. Tamakloe revealed that MTN has not assigned anyone to spread such fake information and that the public should rubbish such claims.
