DSP Dickson Obeng instructed his officers to lash the primary 6 school boy as a way of disciplining him for gross insubordination.
The victim, a pupil of St. James Anglican Primary school in the Sefwi Akontombra District of the Western Region, was left with bruises after allegedly receiving 19 lashes in his palm and back.
Reports were that, he was caught fighting with his colleague after school, which they were ordered to stop but the said boy was said to have put up unruly behaviour.
The District Commander, DSP Dickson Obeng, who felt the boy’s stubbornness ought to be exorcised, ordered some police officers to discipline him by way of lashing.
The IGP who is not impressed by the action of the District Commander wants the case investigated.
The IGP has directed the Police Commander for Western Region to constitute a team to investigate the incident and report within two [2] weeks.”
