'We will report Kotoko to CAF or FIFA over contract termination' – Coach Kjetil Zachariassen's Agent
- Thursday, Nov 14 2019
The Ghanaian giants parted ways with Coach Kjetil Zachariassen after a meeting at the club secretariat in Kumasi, the porcupine warriors made the announcement on their official twitter handle on Wednesday just days after the team’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking on SilverSports with King Eben immediately after the club announced sacking of coach Zachariassen, Charles Kouadio expressed their unhappiness with the terms of separation and threatened to send the club to a higher body.
“We have just received the letter a few minutes ago and have gone through the details and we have so many comments about the club's decision''
''May be they [ Kotoko ] thought we are foolish ...they thought we do not know anything about the terms in the contract ''
''I know all the clauses in the contract ....There are four clauses in the initial contract and Kotoko only mentioned the clause that favored them as the basis for their decision''
''I am seeing only two out of the four clauses in their letter''
''The four clauses;first was to qualify the club to the group stage of CAF Champions League, secondly to qualify Kotoko to group stage of CAF Confederation Cup , thirdly to position the club in the first spot in the NC Competition and the fourth was to position the club first in the FA Cup so as to give the club the chance to play again in next year's competition''
''At the right time each of us will report at the higher level and defend the contract''he told SilverFM.
“They (Kotoko) are saying that they will compensate him (Zachariassen) with $5,000 but that wasn’t the agreement signed, we told them (Kotoko) to pay $10,000 but they insisted on paying $5,000, so that was where we left the meeting and didn’t come at a compromise”
It was understood Asante Kotoko was willing pay Zacchariassen in advance as severance package to fulfill a contractual obligation but the Norwegian trainer demanded four months salary.
”Zack wanted up to $12k compensation but Kotoko was firm and proposed $5k”
”Zack said no and latter demanded $10k pay off”
”Kotoko were unwilling, so Zack & his agent left the meeting to be continued” the official mouthpiece of the club , Kotoko NEWS tweeted. The manager of Coach Kjetil Zachariassen indicated that his client is not going to reply Asante Kotoko now ''the right body will reply them ..because we are taking it to another level ''
''We will go to CAF or FIFA that is for sure'' he fumed
Zacchariassen crossed carpet from AshGold to their rivals Asante Kotoko after inspiring the Miners to win the Normalisation Committee Special Competition Tier II- defeated the Porcupine Warriors enroute to winning the title.
The expatriate coach has failed to turn things around for Asante Kotoko- they threw away a 2-0 first-leg victory against Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the CAF Champions League as they suffered a 3-0 defeat in the second, before over the weekend they failed to hold on to a 1-0 win in the CAF Confederation Cup against San Pedro of Ivory Coast when they lost 2-0 in the reverse fixture.
The elimination San Pedro was the straw that has broken the camel’s back. It is too much for Asante Kotoko to take, having parted ways with CK Akonnor despite winning them the Normalisation Committee Tier 1 Cup and reaching the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Norwegian was appointed in July this year and barely four months into the job he has been shown the exit out of the club.
This is the ninth coach to be sacked under the reign three-year tenure of Dr. Kwame Kyei.
