Sarfo was arrested and incarcerated for a defilement case filed against him by his girlfriend.
At a point the winger was released from prison, suspended from playing for Malmö FF and set to be deported to Ghana but was re-arrested again and sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
Kingsley Sarfo was jailed two year and eight months in Swedish prison for two child rape counts, a Malmo District Court ruled in June 2018.
The Incarcerated Malmo FF midfielder filed an appeal but a Sweden Supreme Court refused to grant him an application for an appeal.
Sources from Sweden suggests there’s a whole new twist to the case and as a result, the Ghanaian may be out from prison today even before the stipulated period is due, but a major discovery is likely to make the case against him fall apart.
Speaking on SilverSports with Edmund Osafo Addo, the Chief Executive Officer of Bechem United, Nana Kwesi Darling 'Prof Darling' who played a role in Kingsley Sarfo's football career in Sweden confirmed;
''It is true as we all know Kingsley was set to be released from Swedish prison today,the authorities called his Swedish mother to pick him up but Kingsley was not released to us when we got there''
''The Swedish authorities later got to us via text message that Kingsley has been remanded again in custody due to a new evidence that has surfaced which is likely to make a case for or against the Ghanaian player's appeal''
Prof Darling indicated that Kingsley Sarfo has been set free but would be expected to spend some liberal freedom at the Swedish Asylum because the country's Immigration Laws do not allow him to stay in the country illegally.
The girl in question as exclusively revealed in an interview on Silver Sports by Bechem United CEO Prof Darling, is also Swedish-based Ghanaian who hails from Bantama in Kumasi.
The prosecutor’s main evidence has been conversations on social media. Kingsley Sarfo refuses to write the messages but is disputed by the District Court, which means the 14 year-year-old girl has also been clear with her age.
According to Nana Kwesi the new evidence from Ghana suggests that the lady was not allegedly honest with her age.
''So we praying the court to grant us fair hearing so that even if it will not make the case on his already served prison sentence it will go a long way to block his expulsion from Sweden and also clear his name'' he told SilverFM.
The CEO advised Ghanaian professional football players plying their trade abroad to always remember their grassroots teams.
Sarfo was the second Ghanaian to be jailed in the Scandinavian country after Kwame Bonsu went through similar ordeal and was deported as a result.
Kingsley Sarfo received his debut Black Stars call-up in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uganda after turning down an offer to represent Sweden at International level.
