John Dumelo loses NDC Parliamentary Election to NPP Lydia Alhassan

Actor-turned-politician John Dumelo's dream to represent the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament in the next four years has been crushed after losing to incumbent Member of Parliament Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party.

In what was deemed a hottest parliamentary seat contest for the 2020 elections, John Dumelo was tipped to flip the seat with support from creative art and movie industry.

Dumelo,on Tuesday morning,however remained resolute to wait for declaration of final results from the Electoral Commission.

John Dumelo in a tweet said;

''We are still waiting for the Electoral commission to declare the final results. By the projection, I am in pole position to win when all the results are verified by the EC''.

However Madam Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party has expressed gratitude to electorates in the constituency;

"Thank you God for an answered prayer. Thank you Ayawaso West Wuogon for this Victory. I take my scripture from Proverbs 21:31."

For those who didn't vote for me, I know they will do it the next time. - Lydia Alhassan after winning the Ayawaso West Wuogon elections.

I thank all who supported me in this race for us to come this far. The work that we have done is there for all to see. - Maa Lydia Alhassan after winning the Ayawaso West Wuogon elections.

I was sworn in February last year and I'm not even two years yet so what else do you expect from the constituent who have this level of leadership for someone who has been MP for less than two years. - Maa Lydia Alhassan (Ayawaso West Wuogon).
