The Awards which was slated to come off on Saturday May 18, happenned to be special as it coincides with the 20th-anniversary celebrations of the Vodafone Awards.

As part of the activities leading to the main event on Saturday night, a private dinner has been held for nominees in the artiste-based categories.
Shatta Wale failed to attend a dinner organised for nominees of the VGMA 2019 which saw Samini, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay and others attending.
The dinner which was held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra had nominees for the Artiste of the Decade award and others attending.
Nominees including Samini, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Okyeame Kwame were spotted at the dinner.
Others were Nacee, Efya, and Wendy Shay who was with her manager, Bullet.
Two of the keenly contested categories this year were ‘Artiste of the Year’ and the ‘Artiste of the Decade’.
