According to him, the researchers should see whole issue surrounding the new voters' registration on grounds of technicality and analysis between the Electoral Commission and stakeholders including the media.
Speaking on OmanbapaSHOW with Nana Ampratwum he believes the findings of the research are biased and without merit.
''the issue of a new voters register should be topical so that the pros and cons of a new Voters Register would be brought to the media and attention of the people.''
''I expected the UG researchers to have invited the Electoral Commission and the various stakeholders to a forum on the issue to deliver a detailed presentation through power point to discuss the issues before the various technical men from the various party to deliberate on the issue''
A survey conducted by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana has suggested that six out of 10 Ghanaians are in favour of new voters' register for the 2020 elections.
According to the department, many of the respondents believe a new register will ensure the credibility of the polls.
According to the report, 27,500 were interviewed across the 16 regions.
The survey comes in the wake of the standoff between some political parties and the electoral commission over attempt by the commission to create a new register
The reasons given by the respondent for a new register are as follows:
1. To remove deceased names
2. To detect foreign names
3. To get a credible register
In the Volta Region, 1,800 were polled 54% were for yes 45% were for no while Ashanti Region 4,707 were polled 74.2% were for yes 25% were for no.
The margin of error for the entire exercise was 1%.
