Fomena MP officially notifies Speaker of decision to join NPP caucus in parliament

The Member of Parliament for Fomena Constituency Andrews Asiamah, has written to the Speaker of Parliament to officially notify him of his decision to align with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Caucus.

Mr Asiamah has been in the spotlight in recent times following his appointment as the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

Mr. Asiamah who decided to run independently after he was disqualified from contesting the party’s parliamentary primaries had his seat declared vacant in Parliament.

However, Mr. Asiamah managed to win the seat at the end of polls in last year's general elections, obtaining 12,805 of the total votes cast by beating his contenders – Philip Ofori Asante of the NPP and Christiana Appiagyei of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who polled 10,798 and 2,608 votes respectively.

The rejected MP however has become the cornerstone to the NPP and he has fulfilled his promise to side with the party in the 8th parliament of the Republic of Ghana.

This settles the stalemate in Parliament as both the governing NPP and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and draws the line as to who is Majority and Minority in Parliament.
