The case count passed 7,000 when an additional 309 cases were reported. The national tally now stands at 7,117 with Greater Accra alone accounting for over 5,000 cases.

The recoveries have reached 2,317 with 34 deaths. According to the John Hopkins COVID-19 tracker, Ghana had 4,766 active cases as of May 27 at 10:00 GMT.

Meanwhile there is controversy over whether or not parliament has recorded infections. What is sure is that mass testing took place on the orders of the speaker.

This morning majority chief whip, Muntaka Mubarak, disclosed on local TV that two MPs and some parliamentary staff had tested positive. Contrary to denials by Director of Public Affairs of the House, Kate Addo, who said results from the tests have yet to be delivered.

Majority leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mesah-Bonsu also dismissed the reports which he said bordered on speculative journalism.
