41 year-old Kwabena Kenneth who stole the precious mineral which weighs about 70.2  kilograms and was undergoing spiritual purification at his grandfather's shrine has passed on after he was attacked by some strange illness.

Maame Ama Mmra, mother of the deceased who spoke to SilverFM's Akwadaa Nyame explained that her son Kwabena Kenneth died Tuesday after he was striken by a strange illness.

According to Maame Mmra she suspects the strange illness was inflected on her son as a punishment from the gods after Kwabena stole the precious mineral.

''My son [ Kwabena Kenneth] died Tuesday afternoon around 3:22pm ..so we have conveyed the lifeless body to the morgue pending autopsy and also make arrangements to pacify the gods after his death so that the curse do not spread through the family''

''My son before his demise revealed repeatedly that Yaw Tawiah [ his Jehovah Witness friend] ''

''The bowl returned by Yaw Tawiah was empty without the gold ornaments so we are afraid a curse might spread across both families'' Maame Mmra alleged.

''If Yaw Tawiah has not stolen the ornaments in the bowl why was he able to return an empty bowl afterall''

41 year-old Kwabena Kenneth connived with his friend, Yaw Tawiah who is an elder of Jehovah's witnesses to steal the precious mineral which weighs about 70.2 kilograms.

He is currently undergoing spiritual purification at his grandfather's shrine and has kept in his room for safety after the grandfather died 35 years ago.
