Two police officers have been shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Drobonso near Kumawu in the Sekyere Afram Plains District of Ashanti.
Another officer, Constable Enock Okyere, in critical condition is currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds.
The Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Juliana Obeng confirmed the news, identified the deceased as Inspector Adolf Mutse, a driver and Constable Prosper Ashinyo.
According to ASP Juliana Obeng, the deceased, together with their other colleagues, were returning from official duty when they were ambushed and killed by their assailants in the wee hours of Thursday, 11 January 2018.
This shooting incident comes days after 3 army officers and a police were shot by nomadic herdsmen in Agogo on Monday.
The 4 security officials were shot after they reportedly responded to a distress call from a woman whose farm had been invaded by cattle.
