Some traders near Kumasi Asafo Interchange underpass , mostly fishmongers have expressed their displeasure at Hon. Daniel Okyem Aboagye, the Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region over the construction of a bus terminal,at their retail premises, which they claim belong to the parliamentarian.

According to the angry retailers, the land was acquired by their ancestors which is literary their inheritance hence it is unlawful for someone to purchase for their private project.

Clad in red clothes and arm bands , the irate traders of about seven hundred (700) at Asafo Cold Store area sung protest songs amidst warning to the legislator to abide by the rule of law.

Speaking to SilverNews reporter Filasco, the aggrieved traders threatened to unseat the MP if he does not abort the '2M Express Bus Terminal'' project which they allege to be the property of the legislator, adding 'it is a wrong project to be sited under traffic light'.

''We disagree with the MP over this project.....it is even illegal to site a project of this nature under traffic signal''

''We have legally acquired the area and even if there is going to be any development plan by the government we should be served a demolition notice but the MP came last Saturday and ordered his men to pull down our structures''

The traders also appealed to the Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party to take a second look at the subject matter as their source of income are earned from that piece of land or face their wrath ahead of 2020 polls.

''We acquired the land many years ago only to wake up one morning to this project which our checks reveal it is a property of Hon. Okyem Aboagye''

''We have, on several occasions agreed to engage the MP but he only sends one [Mansa] and his heavily built men to take our pallets and pull down our structures at dawn''

''We appeal to our President Nana Addo and Chairman Wontumi to mediate between us [fishmongers] and Bantama MP in order to bring about an agreement or reconciliation'', the agitating traders fumed.

Meanwhile, when SilverNews contacted the MP for Bantama, Hon. Daniel Okyem Aboagye,he confirmed acquiring the land for a project but denies the intent to collapse their businesses as the traders allege.

''That is not my style and not my kind..... to deny people of their source of income... I have gone through such situations before and anyone who knows me will attest to this fact''

''It is always likely to find such resistance when trying to start a project''

''If I want to acquire a property , I do it legitimately without shadow... so the quarrels by the sellers seems surprising to me''

''To be honest I have even relocated some affected traders to the other side ....these people are there illegally but I think that does not mean they should not do their business'' he told Omanbapa Morning Show host Nana Ampratwum.
