Angry residents of Atwima Techimam and Denkyemour residents in the Kwadaso municipality of the Ashanti Region are threatening to boycott the December polls over an ‘abandoned’ road construction project in their community.

According to the angry residents, the contractor working on the road has abandoned the road for some time now, leaving the road more deplorable than before.

They say, the road was somehow motorable until the contractor dug out sand on the road as part of the construction works; making the road inaccessible.

The current nature of the road has also put the lives of the community members in danger as their houses are flooded any time it rains.

The residents indicated that it has become difficult to transport sick persons including pregnant women to the nearby hospital.

They therefore call on authorities to return the contractor back to site or they will boycott the upcoming general elections.

A visit by Silver FM's Akwadaa Nyame  to the site revealed that weeds had taken over the road while some parts of the gutter had started collapsing.

Madam Rose Agyemang, who speaks on behalf of the residents, also added that the current nature of the road keeps residents indoor whenever it rains.

She therefore, appealed to government to call the  contractor (Asabea construction limited) to complete the project.

On his part, the Assembly member of Techimam-Denkyemour Electoral Area, David Asare, told Silver News that, he was aware of the poor nature of the road and has engaged the contractor and the Municipal Assembly on several occasions.
