The Offinso traditional council on Tuesday performed rituals on the River Offin to pacify its god over what they described as an insult against the river god during a cursing process by a group of aggrieved NPP supporters in the Offinso South constituency of the Ashanti region.

It could be recalled that the Offinso traditional council summoned a group of NPP Supporters for unlawfully invoking curses on the party leaders for disqualifying their preferred candidates.

At the palace, the Chiefs accused them of the following charges;

1.going to the river god without passing through the right process by not seeking permission.

2. Calling other river gods whiles inside the river Offin using wrong choice of words and this is an insult to the river.

3. Insulting the people of Offinso as prostitutes during their cursing process. etc.

The accused NPP supporters accepted and pleaded guilty through the chief of Nkwantakese Nana Boakye Yam Ababio with 24 sheep, 1box of schnapps, 6 crates of eggs and 6 fowls.

They were however ordered by the chiefs to bring at least 2 sheep, 3 fowls, 3 crates of eggs and the 1 box of schnapps before Tuesday for chiefs to pacify the river god in order to avoid any bad future occurrence.

SilverNEWS confidently reported that by 6:30am at the riverside, chiefs, sub-chiefs, linguists, some elders of the Ofinso town plus some of the NPP supporters who invoked the curses had gathered around River Offin,half kilometer away from the town where a fowl was initially slaughtered followed by a male sheep.

Nana KwaKu Wiafe, a chief linguist who led the act said the rituals was performed to reverse and also pacify the river god to prevent any bad omen on the Offinso township.

He disclosed that the traditional council indicated said the exercise was successful as the river god immediately accepted their pacification without giving them any tough time.

He urged the youth to desist from attaching the name of Nana Wiafe Akenteng,the Offinso chief and his elders in such dastardly acts and also shun calling the gods anyhow to avoid their dangerous power and wrath.

The linguist finally disclosed that Chiefs are yet to decide on a punishment or caution for the invokers despite their plea.

Mr. Akwasi Adu Gyamfi,one of the invokers,thanked nananom but expressed regret and promised on behalf of his cohorts never to repeat such a mistake.

“We did it out of anger and we promise never to do that again, but we plead with them to as a matter of urgency always stand for truth and fairness since curse invoking comes as a result of all these things” he said.

Exclusively, he disclosed that a credible source had revealed to them that two of the curse invokers including himself who are delegates are set to be suspended but that will never deter him from showing love and commitment for the party.

“We understand the party works according the law and that if we are punished for being at fault it doesn’t mean we should quit the party” he said.
