The activities has brought a great deal of misunderstanding in the area resulting in bloody clashes as these miners are alleged to have even stole the concession from a renowned businessman who owns the land with all legal documents.
According to the residents, a concession which is owned by a registered mining company has been forcibly stolen by these illegal miners of which most are from the area.
They said a complaint had already been lodged to the Eastern Regional Minister, the Minerals Commission and the Inter Ministerial Committee on Small Scale Mining where these illegal miners were ordered to leave the land without any government enforcement.
Their fear is that these recalcitrant miners have threatened to attack anyone who dares to chase them out of the land.
The residents bemoan the possibility of bloody clash since the authorities have turned a blind eye to the matter arguing that the illegal miners should have been made to evacuate the said land.
"The DCE only asked him to use land guards to chase out those thieves which is creating much fear in this area", the agitating residents complained.
They further revealed that the destruction of water bodies by these illegal miners has brought a shortage of water which is making it very difficult for them to get enough water to protect themselves from the corona virus.
"We risk acquiring the corona virus with ease due to the evil activities of these illegal miners"
They further blamed the DCE, some constituency NPP party executives and other NPP party bigwigs for being behind all these illegalities for their selfish interest.
Prior to journalists' visit to the said site, it had been revealed that these illegal miners, after stealing the concession from the owner who had bought the land with billions, in turn sell the land in acres to anyone who wished to acquire the land.
Truly, we met some guys (one Obolo and comrades) who claimed to give us an acre land for Gh¢10,000 after we pretended to be galamsey dealers.
Speaking to the Queen Mother of Anyinam, Nana Ama Appiaa II said chiefs cannot sit aloof to witness this worrying development and so she therefore called on the DCE, the Regional Minister and all other stakeholders to quickly intervene before things get escalated.
She also revealed that the way and manner these illegal miners have forcibly stolen the land from its original owner, and illegally selling them to others is uncalled for.
