Hon. Nicholas Fiifi Baako made these revelations in his sectional address at the first ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the 7th Assembly of the Assin North Municipal Assembly Hall held last week.
According to him, revenue generation for the first quarter is nothing much to write home about.
However, he was optimistic that with the introduction of the TREE project in the piloted areas, proper supervision would be made to achieve our set target for the year
He stated that, the Assin North Municipal Assembly projected to collect total revenue of GH 725,650.00 during the 2018 fiscal year from her internal sources but was able to generate GH 630,866.61 representing 87% of the estimated amount.
He said, at the end of February, this year, they were able to realize an amount of GH137, 653.00 representing 16.6% of the projected amount of GH830, 441.80.
Hon. Baako therefore said, the Assembly will use all avenues as indicated in the Local Governance Act 936 Act 2016 section 156 to prosecute rate defaulters.
He pleaded with Assembly members to offer assistance to the revenue collectors any time they call on them in their various electoral areas.
He urged the citizenry and the media to update his outfit on any information about a fraudulent tax collector in order to deal with that person in accordance with the law.
Hon. Nicholas Fiifi Baako attributed the low revenue of the assembly to the poor human relations between the payers and the collectors, low supervision on the part of the assembly and the lackadaisical attitude of some of the taxpayers
