The next NDC administration will absorb 50 percent of fees for tertiary students for 2020/21 academic year as an incentive to mitigate the effects of COVID 19 on students and their families,Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang announced,whiles giving highlights of the 2020 NDC manifesto on Monday, September 7, 2020 at the University of Professional Studies, Accra.

The NDC's running mate added that free laptops will also be given out to students to facilitate participation in online classes,all of which is aimed at reducing the burden imposed on students and parents following the coronavirus pandemic.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has also promised that it plans to make the free SHS better and more inclusive by extending access to Free Senior High School to include Private Schools while canceling the double-track system which was introduced after the implementation of the policy.

Professor Jane Opoku-Agyemang indicated that, this is to ensure that the numerous challenges facing the implementation of the Free SHS programme are addressed.

“We have every plan and desire to make the Free Senior High School Programme much better by ensuring that its numerous challenges are addressed and that higher operational and academic standards are introduced and are sustained...to do this we will abolish the double-track system''

''We plan to make the Free SHS more inclusive by expanding it to cover students in private Senior High Schools in underserved and deprived parts of our country ” she said.
