The Public Relation Officer for the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mark Ofori has said that the Ghaha Education Service has begun investigations into a case that led to the death of a final year student at the KNUST Senior High School in Kumasi.

According to him authorities have begun a lot of deliberations into the matter and have visited the premises where the incident happened.

In an interview with Nana Ampratwum on Omanbapa Morning show Mr Ofori stated that, the students safety and  protection are in safe hands and therefore encourage them to report any issue to the authority of the school.

He added that, the authority’s decision to interdict the mistress was because of how she mishandled the situation.

The Communications Director noted that, if a student is not feeling well, the first thing to do is to report the matter to the housemaster.

He appealed to the general public to have patient until the investigation ends.

He disclosed that, they have delivered all PPE’s to the various Senior High Schools to help curb the spread of the virus.

Two teachers sanctioned

Two teachers of the KNUST Senior High School (SHS) have been sanctioned by the Ghana Education Service (GES) over the death of a final year Business student, Sam Leonard.

The pair – Mr. Seth Owusu Ansah, a Senior Housemaster, and Mr. Anthony Awotwe, a Housemaster, have been removed from the school and are to be re-assigned by the Oforikrom Municipal Directorate of Education.

The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the GES, Mr. Mark Ofori, who made this known to the media in Kumasi, said preliminary investigations, had established negligence of duty on their part.

According to him all authorities have visited the premises of the school after the incident happened.
